Description
The Friesian is a horse breed originating in Friesland in north Netherlands. As use in agricultural pursuits declined, the Friesian became popular for recreational use both in harness and under saddle. Often you will see Friesians in the dicipline of dressage, or in harness pulling traditional carriages designed for Friesian horses called a "sjees".
The horse has fluid, elegant and suspended gaits which are emphasized by feathering on the lower legs, a fine mane and beautiful, long tail. This is a horse of luxurious and proud appearance, full of personality, honest, and eager to work.
