Description
SharkBite® PEX Pipe is a cross-linked polyethylene pipe for use in a wide range of residential and commercial plumbing applications. Manufactured without an oxygen barrier for potable water systems and with an oxygen barrier for radiant floor and hydronic heating applications. A repeating SharkBite imprint pattern provides a visual aid to determine if the pipe has been inserted all the way into the SharkBite push-to-connect fitting. This feature only works if the pipe is cut between the SharkBite imprint pattern.
The SharkBite pipe with and without oxygen barrier is approved for use in all model codes in the US and Canada, for use in hydronic and potable water systems, and is certified to the following standards: ASTM F876, ASTM F877, CSA B137.5 and AWWA C904.
SharkBite PEX pipe is a cost-effective piping solution approved for use in both hot and cold plumbing installations. Compared to rigid pipe, PEX pipe is faster to install and its flexibility to bend around corners allows for longer runs and fewer connections - reducing cost, time and potential leak points. It is also a freeze resistant pipe that can expand slightly if frozen and contract when thawed. SharkBite PEX pipe offers the highest rating for chlorine resistance and a six-month UV resistance, the highest available. It is approved for water service lines and burial applications, including being buried in concrete.
