Patching Large Drywall Holes

1. For holes 8 inches and smaller, cut a rectangle around hole.


2. Cut a dry wall rectangle 2 inches wider than the hole. Remove 2-inch perimeter while leaving facing paper.

3. Apply compound around the damaged area

4. Place patch in hole, smooth down with hand, and hold in place for a few minutes. Feather with compound to blend patch.
5. For holes larger than 8 inches, cut area to center of studs. Place 2x2’s at top and bottom of hole.
6. Nail in patch.
