Description
With creamy sapwood, the heartwood runs from yellowish brown to olive green. Yellow poplar wood has a medium to fine texture and is straight grained. Yellow poplar has medium density, excellent machining properties and takes and holds paint, enamel and stain exceptionally well. Used for furniture, cabinetry, doors and mouldings. NWH yellow poplar is available from the Appalachian region.
Helpful Tip: Sizing for Dimensional lumber, plywood, and sheet goods is often referred to by the nominal size, not the actual size. Nominal measurements are made before the lumber is surfaced, sanded, pressure treated, and more. Moisture content can even play a small role in sizing.
