Compared to seed alone, your lawn will grow 2X faster (when applied at the new lawn rate, subject to proper care). Scotts® Turf Builder® Rapid Grass Tall Fescue Mix grows green, lush grass in just weeks. Use on either new lawns or overseeding existing grass. For best results, apply in the spring or fall when air temperatures are consistently between 60°F and 80°F. We recommend using a Scotts® spreader to apply this product (please refer to spreader settings on product label). Do not use weed control products until your lawn has been mowed at least 4 times. Finally, be sure to apply Scotts® Lawn Food products every 8 weeks throughout the season to help maintain your thick, green lawn. One 16 lb. bag of Scotts® Turf Builder® Rapid Grass Tall Fescue Mix has a new lawn coverage of 1,760 sq. ft. and an overseeding coverage of 5,280 sq. ft.

Application & Planting Information

• Seeding New Lawns
  • Prepare The Area To Be Seeded By Raking The Top Layer Of Soil Approximately 2 In. Deep.
  • Remove Any Dead Grass Or Debris To Ensure Seed-to-soil Contact.
  • Apply In A Single Pass With A Scotts® Elite Spreader. Or, Apply In Two Passes With A Scotts® Broadcast, Rotary, Or Wizz® Spreader. Or, Apply In Four Passes With A Scotts® Drop Spreader. Or, Apply In Five Passes With A Scotts® Hand-held Spreader.
  • After Seeding, Lightly Rake The Seed Into The Soil To Ensure It Is Covered Up Just Beneath The Surface.
  • Water The Area Daily (as Needed) To Keep The Soil Surface Moist Until The Seedlings Reach At Least 2 In.
• Overseeding
  • To Prepare The Area For Seeding, Mow The Existing Grass To A Height Of Approximately 2 In. Or Use The Lowest Mower Setting.
  • Next, Rake To Remove Any Dead Grass Or Debris.
  • Apply In A Single Pass With A Scotts® Broadcast, Rotary, Wizz® Or Elite Spreader. Or, Apply In Two Passes With A Scotts® Drop Spreader. Or, Apply In Three Passes With A Scotts® Hand-held Spreader.
  • After Seeding, Water The Area Daily (as Needed) To Keep The Soil Surface Moist Until The Seedlings Reach At Least 2 In.
  • Mowing Can Be Resumed When The Lawn Reaches The Desired Mowing Height.

  • Do Not Apply Weed Control Products Until The Grass Is Well Established (mowed At Least 4 Times). Additionally, If You Recently Used A Weed Control Product, Refer To Those Product Instructions To Determine How Soon You Can Plant Grass Seed.
