Dual Season Pumpkin Tower

Published on

Do you know that pumpkins have 2 faces? Let’s get hocus pocus on this dual purpose pumpkin project!

Things you will need:

Remove the handles to get ready for painting. You can simply pull them out.

In a ventilated area, spray your first coat. Since pumpkins are dark blue and we went with white, we had to spray about 2-3 coats. Once dry, flip them upside down to get all the creases around the face of the pumpkin.

Before you start, stack them up and test to see how top heavy it will be once you filled with decorations. The plastics are very light and the tower can be too top heavy plus it can also be blown away if you were to put it outside. We recommend adding some weight (rocks or pebbles) in each layer before gluing.

Plastic pumpkins are made differently. If the pumpkins touch each other once stacked, you can use the household glue alone.

We found that ours have more curves to them and there are gaps in between. We used glue and sealed them securely with white caulk. If you paint yours other colors than white, use a clear caulk. Let dry overnight.

We placed craft foam inside to help secure some of heavier decoration pieces. Layer up the decors to give it height and textures. We went with an all green color scheme. If you prefer fresh flowers and plant clippings, you can put them in a vase as well.

You can definitely start this early fall and display the plain pumpkin side. You can task kiddos to color in the faces of the pumpkins too with a big sharpie. Later you can flip the tower around to ‘face” the trick or treaters. How multi purpose is this! Happy Fall Y’all !
