Stepping Stone fun with Plastic Tray and Concrete

Published on

How about a simple and quick DIY project to wrap up the summer fun? If you’re a passionate repurposer, you have a knack for seeing potential in everything. Let’s embark on this project together!

In this project, we select a plastic plant saucer featuring a playful pattern.

You may also discover to-go containers or silicone molds for experimentation. Look for options that are large enough to make stepping stones.

Spray the plastic tray with a non-stick spray to prevent the cement from adhering to the surface.

Sutherlands offers a variety of cement products to your choosing. In today's experiment, we have selected the Sakrete Concrete Mix, which is available in a ready-to-mix tub (subject to availability).

We particulary like this tub as it is very convenient, minimizes mess and is ideal for small projects. Just add water, stir and mix directly in the packaging. This tub produces four 8-inch stepping stones.

When working with concrete, make sure to give it a good shake to eliminate any bubbles (check out the before and after above). This technique will also help to create a smoother surface. Allow them to dry overnight and you should be able to easily pop them out.

Colors are such a delight, aren't they? Explore the vibrant world of spray paint at Sutherlands!

You can use it as a stepping stone or introduce a splash of color to areas in your garden that could benefit from a touch of bright sunshine.
