Tomato Cage Plant Stand

Published on

Hello minimalists out there! We have an easy diy just for you! We have done many fun projects with our tomato cages like “Cousin IT”, "Goblin" and “holiday tree”.

Things you will need:

Sutherlands carries many types of tomato cages from light to heavy duty galvanized steel. Choosing the right one is important. If the cage is too light, it won’t hold heavy a concrete planter for example. A safer option is to get the heavy duty one. Keep in mind that it may be harder for you to cut the wire. Also keep in mind the shape of the planter and the size of the ring it will sit on. We recommend you test to make sure it won’t slip right through.

You can also do several of these at different heights. Check the circumvent of each layer against your planters.

We used a duty light duty steel tomato cage and lineman pliers. If you choose the heavy duty cage, we recommend using a bolt cutter. Not all pliers are alike. We used lineman plier to get a clean flush cut. Start snipping off all the wires that stick up.

Spray thoroughly. It might use up a bit of spray on the thin wire. Let dry overnight.

That is one easy project you can get done in a weekend. Stop by your local Sutherlands store for our selection of house plants & planters to keep it green all year round. (selection and availabilty may vary.)
