School has been out a while and the kids are already getting antsy! We have a fun DIY to help get them outside and maybe do some book reading, a fun play tent for the summer.

Things you will need:
- 4-2"x2"x4' treated lumber (to make 2 A-frames)
- 3 Wood dowels: top 5/8"x48" (1) and bottom 7/16"x48"( 2 )
- Duct tape colors of your choice
- Drill and drill spade
- Wood glue
- Pencil and tape measure

We started off with the 2x2-8' lumber. Our Sutherlands crew at the Wornall store was ready to help by cutting these into 4' long pieces.

Mark where you will thread the dowels through at both ends of all 4 pieces.

Begin drilling. We used 3/4" drill spade for the bigger dowel on top and 7/16" for the bars on the bottom.

Assemble and determine how wide you want the opening. Apply glue at all the joints to keep this stationary and let dry.

Mark the spacing how far apart you want the canopy to be. Start drapping duct tape from bottom dowel bar over the top rail onto the other side of the bottom dowel. We assembled this inside to avoid the grass from sticking. We recommend leaving the bottom of the tape loose to make sure the tape is tight and in the right spots. Once you are satified with how it looks, secure all tape.

What a fun little hideway for the kiddos. Get them excited picking the colors, helping with the project and setting up a space of their own!
Have a great summer!
