Exciting Fall at Sutherland's Garden Center
Autumn brings a thrilling season for Sutherland's Garden Center. This time of year introduces a fresh selection of foundation shrubs, flowering and shade trees, along with a variety of hardy, cold-tolerant flowers. Additionally, fall bulbs are available nationwide. Our friends at the Netherland Bulb Company recommend that now is the ideal moment to plant these bulbs to ensure a vibrant spring display in the coming year.

The best time to plant them is in the fall, just before the first frost. Many asked if they can wait until spring to plant. Fall season allows for a longer time for roots to delvelope.
You can place them directly in the ground or use a container. Just remember to water them once, as overwatering can lead to bulb rot.

Always plant with the pointing side up. Per the Netherland Company expert, “a general rule is to plant flower bulbs at a depth that is 3x the circumference of the bulb: • Larger bulbs are typically buried about 8” deep • Smaller bulbs are typically buried about 5” deep”

Visit your neighborhood Sutherlands for all your fall planting essentials! Be sure to pick up a bulb planter, garden tools, gloves, a shovel, and a watering can. Enjoy planting and watch as your garden prepares for a stunning display of vibrant colors in the spring.
