Upstyle DIY-Frameless Mirror

Published on

Are you a bargain shopper? Do you like flipping projects that make bargain buys look like you spent a fortune! And you know bigger is always better when it comes to a full length mirror. We have a project for ya!

Things you will need:

We are going for the look of raw wood for this project. It has that boho look to it. Also depending on the weight of your mirror, you want a thick material to keep the mirror straight and won't warp.

Do you know that not all plywood is rough looking? We chose plywood with birch veneer on the outside. Choose what you like. Sutherlands carry cabinet grade, red oak, birch, yellow pine.

Our bargain find mirror is about 5.8 ft. x 1 ft. wide. We want to make this mirror to look grander and bigger. We cut this plywood down to 84" x 24"x 3/4" wide. Cutting cross grain, using a miter saw will allow for a smoother cut.

Smooth rough edges with sandpaper.

Before attaching the mirror with hardware, we apply caulk throughput the back to help secure the mirror in place. Let dry overnight.

Predill a shallow hole for hardwares. This will make it easier to put the screws in.

Instead of using a power drill to drive screws in, use a screwdriver, especially with plastic hardware to avoid breakage. Plus you can feel when the screws are tightly fastened. Instead of using the provided screws from the mirror kit, we used a shorter screws. This depends on how thick the plywood is.

We offset this mirror to allow more space for decorations above the mirror. You can string the lights, add shelving or hang cascading type indoor plants. This will make a good lean-to mirror in teens or dorm room as well!
