Upcycle Table Organization

Published on

Can you guess what this 4-holder table stationary is made from? It is amazing if you look around your house, how many empty unused, trash bound and empty container are laying around, especially those home improvement scraps. Keep reading for the reveal of what they are!

We used 2x4 scrap lumber that is wide enough to fit the 4 holders. Choose different heights of containters but you might want to keep them around the same diameter so they line up nicely in a row. Consider what you will use it for. We plan on some typical table top stationary such as pens, scissors and paper clips for example. You can use household glue or a glue gun.

You can turn this into a kid-friendly project makeover adventure by sending them hunting for items to upcycle. Upcycling encourages creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Children learn to see the potential in everyday items, fostering a mindset of resourcefulness and innovation.

Attach all pieces with your choice of glue and let dry overnight.

We went with a 2 tone effect using 2 different paint spray. Our base coat is specialty silver metallic paint. After letting the first coat dry, we start creating an ombre effect with RUST-OLEUM® Universal® black spray. We highly recommend this particular spray that allows you to spray at any angle. To create this look, simply point the can to the base and lightly press the sprayer. Allow the color to go up just at the base of the holders.

This certainly a great product to introduce to the next generation. Completing upcycling projects provides a sense of accomplishment for children. Seeing the tangible results of their creativity can boost their self-esteem and confidence, encouraging them to take on more challenges. Plus how fun will it be to get them to pick their own color scheme! Sutherlands has all the fun colors.
