Hibernia Wool

The Different Types of Carpet:

Berber Carpet
Berbers are generally made from polypropylene or wool and are ideal for active areas of the home. Berber is either produced in a level loop, or multi-level loop carpet construction. Berber carpets are available in several styles including level loop, multi-level loops, or cut pile construction.

Cut Pile Saxony Carpets
Generally made in solid colors, the surface has a smooth appearance. Generally made with nylon fibers, provides good performance and appearance. Works well with traditional room settings.

Cut & Uncut Patterned Carpet
Loops are shorter than the cut pile creating a carved appearance. Intermixed loops and cut pile, creates a patterned design. Usually constructed in multi-color designs that help hide footprints and traffic patterns
Great choice for a variety of room settings.

Frieze Carpet
Very textured, knobby surface appearance. Extremely durable, and excellent wearing. Yarns are very tightly twisted, and will cost more than textured cut pile carpets. Great for all active areas of the home

Level Loop Carpets
Loops are same height and generally multi-colored.
Usually made from polypropylene (olefin) carpet fibers and often called Indoor-Outdoor or Commercial Carpet.
Casual appearance, but extremely durable. Great for family rooms or basements.

Multi-Level Loop Carpets
Has several different heights of loops and generally multi-colored. Very durable, casual appearance is offered in many unique looking designs and patterns. Helps hides traffic patterns. Great for family rooms, basements, etc.

Textured Cut Pile Saxony Carpet
Surface appearance is textured. Stylish, casual appearance won't show vacuum cleaner marks or footprints. Very popular carpet style today and a good choice for active areas of the home.

Wool Carpet
Wool fiber is naturally more resilient than nylon. As a result, wool will not matt or crush like nylon fibers will.
Wool has a natural ability to shed water; an important characteristic considering that 80% of carpet stains are water-based. Resists static electricity.
