Paint Your Brick Fireplace

Published on

Our friend Katie Lamb, never ceases to amaze us with both her DIY skills and her amazing style! Definitely check out her blog here to view all of her amazing DIY posts and style inspos! She painted her fireplace and it looks amazing! We wanted to follow along and show her amazing before and after photo!

Just check out how amazing this before and after comparison is!

Before and after

Her new fireplace looks clean, minimalist and inviting! What a great way to update without having to tear the whole fireplace apart! We adore the black and white color scheme with a natural wood mantle!

Up close, you can see that there is no show through with the white paint. If you do want to have a little show-through and want to white wash your brick instead of painting over it completely, we have a DIY you can follow here.

The most important thing you can do to achieve this look is to really prep. Degrease the brick, be diligent with taping everything off and make sure to prime the brick. Priming brick can be done with everyone’s favorite product, Kilz. Make sure to have both paintbrushes and rollers so you can evenly paint the mortar and the bricks. Prep is always the most important step in large projects like this, so do not cut corners with it!
